Transnational challenges

I am collecting quotes for the project in Windsor Heights. We need 3 industry standard graphic design and web design software packages. It would seem that this sort of transaction – purchasing software for a project in Jamaica – is so unusual that companies are not set up to ship or sell there. Of course, big up to Corel Draw sales person for finding a way to prepare me a quote and to get the software to the island. The rest of you –¬† meh. Why such a hassle? Selling 12 licenses is not worth your time? To people who engage in grassroots media development – might there not be a better way to ensure that digital media projects in developing communities have better access to the tools of production?
